Hyuna Collapses on Stage in Macau: Health Concerns & Recent Weight Loss (2025)

A wave of concern washed over fans as K-pop sensation Hyuna collapsed on stage during a performance at the Waterbomb music festival in Macau. This incident has reignited worries about the star's well-being, prompting a deeper look into the events leading up to the unexpected collapse.

On November 9th, the 33-year-old artist was in the middle of her energetic performance of her hit song, Bubble Pop! (released in 2011), when she suddenly fainted. Videos quickly spread across social media, showing the alarming moment. Backup dancers immediately rushed to her side, and a security staff member helped her off the stage.

Following the incident, Hyuna took to Instagram to address her fans, offering an apology and reassurance. She expressed her regret, stating, "I’m truly sorry," and explained her desire to give her best performance. She admitted she had no memory of the fainting spell and extended her apologies to the fans in Macau who had come to see her. She concluded with a promise to improve her stamina and work diligently.

But here's where it gets controversial...

This incident is not an isolated event. It follows previous concerns about Hyuna's health, particularly after an Instagram post in October where she discussed her eating habits and weight. Addressing herself in the third person, she wrote, "Hyun-ah, you ate way too much. Let’s snap out of it and go on a strict diet. You liked being skinny, right? Let’s do it again." She later revealed that she had lost approximately 10kg in a month, with a photo showing her weight at about 49kg.

And this is the part most people miss...

Hyuna's past experiences also contribute to the concern. In August 2020, she postponed the release of her comeback single, Good Girl, and subsequently her full studio album, I’m Not Cool. Her then-label, P Nation, cited vasovagal syncope as the reason, a type of fainting spell often triggered by dehydration or prolonged standing, leading to a drop in blood pressure. Adding to this, in November 2019, Hyuna revealed she had been struggling with depression and panic disorder.

Hyuna recently married fellow South Korean singer Yong Jun-hyung, 35, in October 2024.
